This weekend fair brings more than forty independent publishers to one hall, with books, pamphlets and prints for sale and a programme of readings and talks on both days.

The fair is held in a former printworks, a fitting home for a celebration of the printed book. Many of the exhibitors make their books with unusual care: hand-sewn bindings, letterpress covers, paper chosen for its weight and colour. Others work with digital printing in tiny runs, proving that a well-made book does not have to be expensive.

Readings and talks

Saturday afternoon features a reading by four literary translators, followed by a conversation about the economics of small editions: how presses survive, how they find readers, and what they would change. Sunday brings a live letterpress demonstration and an afternoon of short poetry readings.

The press, where words acquire weight.

All events take place in a side room with seating for around eighty people.
